Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Physician Assistant to join our Medical Services team. The ideal candidate will provide clinical care with a focus on occupational health, urgent care, injury treatment, and medical surveillance. This position involves working closely with physicians, nurses, and safety personnel to maintain and enhance the well-being of Port Authority employees across various facilities in New York and New Jersey.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct medical evaluations including pre-employment physicals, return-to-work exams, and fitness-for-duty assessments.
Diagnose and treat work-related injuries and illnesses.
Perform medical surveillance exams (e.g., respiratory, hearing conservation, lead, and asbestos).
Assist in the development and implementation of health promotion and disease prevention programs.
Document all patient interactions accurately in the electronic health record system.
Collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals to deliver coordinated care.
Provide emergency care and referrals as needed.
Participate in COVID-19 or other infectious disease response, including testing and vaccination initiatives, if necessary.
Travel between Port Authority facilities may be required.
Qualifications
Required:
Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in New York and/or New Jersey (must be eligible for both).
NCCPA certification.
At least 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in occupational health, urgent care, emergency medicine, or a related field.
Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between worksites.
Preferred:
Experience with OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation, and occupational medicine protocols.
Familiarity with EMR systems and workplace health standards.
Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
